A CAFE STRAIGHT OUT OF FRIENDS!
For ages and beyond Indian people have had the urge to sit in Central Perk, sip on some fresh brewed Latte and ask people of their age group, "How you doin?" Unfortunately for them, they look like Nirahua Rikshawala rather than Joey Tribbiani, they say "Aur bhaiiiii kahan chali?" instead of the famous catchphrase and they have their local chai wala on the nukkad rather than Central Perk.
Now, you cannot give someone the charisma of Joey Tribianni by making them binge on 10 seasons of Friends, but you can give them a cafe that is lively and that plays smooth jazz over the speaker system. How You Brewing? is the metaphorical amazement that gives you the opportunity to sip on some hot coffee, eat some muffins or croissants, or some Paappe if you're desi.
Located in East of Kailash, near the famous Street Food Mecca, Amar Colony, How You Brewing has an outlook that is hard to miss. Massive green doors and windows and a bright sign that says the name. As soon as I entered, I was surprised to see the vast space in there. Usually cafes are tightly packed with tables and chairs everywhere. But this had some nice space between tables and it had private booths as well.
They have a number of quirky items and games to make your experience worth while. A guitar to play a desi version of Smelly Cat ( Probably the infamous Bheegi Billi from 9XM ), Amazon Prime for you to watch your favorite shows on, Scrabble, Jenga and, my favorite, a 'How Well Do You Know Your Partner' game! It has tokens with questions, if you get them right, you get a reward and a punishment if you get it wrong.
THE FOOD
A major surprise was the fact that they had Zomato Gold which entitled me to 1+1 on food items. We ordered the Veg Crostini and the Chicken Bruschetta.
The Bruchetta was flavorsome and crisp. The chicken was doused in a peppery mayonnaise based sauce. The chicken was plenty and was spilling off the sides of the 6 toasts of bruschetta.
The Veg Crostini was a spicier version of the age old classic, it felt familiar as it tasted like the Cheesy Garlic bread you get at any other Pizza Hut. It was topped with cheese, jalapenos and chilli flakes and had a nice kick to it.
With both the dishes priced at a nominal 99 rupees, we were sorted for Rs 50 per head. But then we saw the offers they were running. A Facebook check in gave us a free large coke, an Insta story gave us a free coffee, a post on Instagram entitled us to another 1+1 offer. They really want to make a name for themselves quick!
THE VERDICT
How You Brewing is a nice and cozy little place for you to have a good time with your bestie or your boyfriend/girlfriend. Heck, drop in here with your family and play the kinky card game if you dare. It's what Joey Tribianni would do while drunk!
