TRAVEL THE WORLD WITH TOURIST, JANPATH
TOURIST, JANPATH
Do you ever have the urge to travel the whole wide world? Do you ever wish to go to Japan in the morning and spend a night at Amsterdam? Everyone does! But 92.2% of the times, people are too gareeb to make this dream come true. But Tourist, Janpath has made it possible for you to be a globetrotter in just Rs. 1700/- for two! (Approximately)
This uber-cool restaurant located in Janpath makes flying across the globe easy with its ambience and decor. With multiple references to travelling, Tourist has a pretty fun environment for you and your friends to eat in. The dark, fun, vibrant inside is perfect for your gang to order from its wide menu and drink away. There is also a rooftop seating area for those who love the fresh air that the Earth has to offer. The bright natural light makes it a perfect spot for all those insta-worthy photos.
THE FOOD
The menu of Tourist sticks to the theme perfectly well. It features a plethora of cuisines and next to every dish, they mention which country the dish originates from. It is the little things that matter. (That's what he said)
We travelled through a full course at Tourist, starting off with their fully equipped bar which serves every possible drink concoction from across the world. The Nutella Shake was my go to drink and it was decent. There was a pretty evident lack of thickness and nutella to the shake, which made it pretty average. The moctails, however, were a whole new ballgame. The refreshing Cool Sensation was a perfect blend of apple and spices.
Moving on the food, we moved through a variety of starters that filled us up real good. It was an experiene that truly took us on a journey. Starting off with some London Fish and Chips from London. Perfectly battered fish sticks served with a lemon and tartar sauce.
Next up were these Kapi Chow Chilly Potatoes which were made with chinese 5 spice and were just the most crispy, tasty, foodgasmic chilli potatoes ever. You must get these when at Tourist.
Coming back to God's own country, India, we got the Non-Veg Starters Platter which included a sampling of 4 types of starters. Including a Chicken Malai Tikka, Chicken Tikka, Seekh Kebab and Fried Fish. Served along side some lachha pyaaz and mint chutney, this was perfect for all my not-so-sober friends.
Another staple when you go to any restaurant/cafe is the nachos. Here, at Tourist Janpath, you get the Cheese Blast Nachos which were loaded with some cheese, vegetables and beans. They have just the right amount of cheese to make them cheesy but still keep it fresh with the salsa.
The only dish that maybe did fall short was the Aranccin, which are traditionally made Italian Risotto balls, crusted and fried and filled with some cheese. These were a little dry and bland. Maybe take a pass on these when there.
THE VERDICT
Tourist takes its name seriously, it makes sure you travel the world with their menu, ambience and music. Everything with a global appeal, the food makes you realise why you need to come back time and again. A must visit for anybody looking for multiple cuisines under one roof.
