CHEW - PAN ASIAN CAFE, CONNAUGHT PLACE
Connaught Place, the heart of the National Capital Region, hosts a number of beautiful places to eat at. However, with a plethora of pubs, lounges and bars, the simplicity of the beautiful Circular Marvel, that is Connaught Place, is lost. But Chew, a pan asian cafe, maintains this beauty with its pastel colors and vibrant natural lighting. The neutrality of the colors at Chew make it a brilliant place to dine in during the day as well as the night.
AMBIENCE AND SERVICE
The service at Chew is very friendly, the stewards always smile and are more than happy to help you. They're clad in black, like ninjas, waiting to strike with chopsticks and soy sauce.
The place itself is pretty big, with two sections which are clearly visible in the cafe. One, near the inlet of light at the windows. This section is bright and appeals to all natural light lovers. It has grey/white/off-white tones to the tables and walls. There are also swing-chairs as single seaters for you to relax in. The place, in all, is very natural and reminds you of all the anime series you've seen online or on Animax. Very cool, very minimal, very kawaii.

The other half of the cafe has a very hip, club-esque feel to it. Dark interiors with LEDs running across the wall. The vibe of the place in that section is completely polar to what the rest is. This is right infront of the kitchen, which the customers can see as well.
THE FOOD
Chew specializes in Pan Asian cuisine and has a menu built around the asian-oriental theme itself. The menu is designed to take you around the orient and they do a fantastic job at that. The dishes are refined and the service matches the items. The dips presented range from various spice levels and flavours and are good enough for you to customise your food.
For starters, we ordered the
Honey Chicken and
Chicken Satay. The Honey Chicken was a safe option to go with, given that the streets serve a very localized version of the same. And it did not disappoint either. The size of the chicken chunks was great, as well as the sauce that went with it.

The Chicken Satay was chicken skewers cooked in a thick peanute sauce served with more peanut dipping sauce. The chicken was cooked beautifully well but the penut sauce seemed a little overpowering. The dip as well as the coating was a little too much.

Next up was the
Chicken Teriyaki California Roll as suggested by one of the stewards. To be honest, this was one of the better sushi rolls I've had anywhere. The rice was cooked well, the chicken was flavoursome and the sesame seeds on top provided a nice textural contrast to the same. The brilliantly sized sushi was a real filler!

To quench my thirst, I got the classic
Iced Tea and the thickest
Canolli Oreo Shake ever. The shake was perfect for the summers, and the thickness was totally on point. The Iced Tea was done well too, with the tingling sensation it sent down my spine. Hot Damn, good drinks!

Drinks For Days |
We were already filled up to the brim, with food-babies trying to come out of our bellies, we ordered the Darsan and the Banoffee Pie. The Darsan consists of fried flat noodles, topped with honey and served with vanilla icecream. A dessert that was not overly sweet and the play with temperatures made it the perfect dessert. The portion, however, was too big! Never thought that'd be a problem.

The Banoffee Pie was not the end that I was expecting. The pie tasted more like caramelized bananas and cream than an actual pie. The darsan was amazing, the pie was average.
