FALL IN LOVE WITH VEGETARIAN STREET STYLE FOOD - The Cake Bucks, Pitampura

THE CAKE BUCKS, PITAMPURA

When it comes to vegetarian food, people usually think about leafy greens and bland proteins and stuff of peasants and slaves. (HOW DO VEGETARIANS EVEN BREATH THE SAME AIR AS MEAT EATERS?!) Especially in the northern areas of Delhi, in Pitampura, NSP or Shalimar Bagh, every vegetarian outlet has to offer something that sets them apart.

One particular outlet in Pitampura is changing the veg game by serving up some brilliantly inspiring dishes including kebabs, gravy momos, Bombay style chaat and house-made icecreams and shakes! The Cake Bucks, located in Pitampura, is a family style baked goods and confectioners shop. It also has some street food and chaat counters outside with tables to eat at.

The prices are very minimal and pocket friendly when compared to other big names like Haldirams or Bikanervala. The food they offer is simple vegetarian streetfood with some innovation. We went in wanting to try a selection of dishes and couldn't help but order from every spectrum of the world! We're globetrotters here!

From Bombay we had the Stuffed Gol Gappas which were THE BEST I HAVE EVER HAD. And there is no doubt that these were amped up with some sort of magic-drug that made me fall in love with food all over again. Topped off with pickled ginger and kachaloo, these MASSIVE Gol Gappas were brilliant.

From the North of India, we had the Roomali Roti and Kathi Kebab which were easily comparable to Chicken Tikka Masala and Roomali. The fresh made roomali was soft and perfectly complimented the spicy, juicy, succulent Kathi Kebabs, which were to die for on their own. Oh, how I wish there was a pool of these Kathi Kebabs so I could dive in and eat my way to the other side. Damn.

From the orient, we had the Gravy Momos which were definitely not your usual gravy or cocktail momos around. The momos themselves were massive and flavoursome. If you don't like the gravy, you can order them steamed or fried. THEY WERE JUST SO GOOD. But the highlight was definitely the gravy, which was a combination of sweet, spicy, tangy and had a bite to it with some textural elements. The gravy was at par with the kathi kebabs! AAH, WHAT DO I FILL MY POOL WITH?!

Finally, gracing our Italian connections, we orderede the Cheesy Garlic Bread served with Cheese Dip. They bake their own garlic bread which is packaged and stored to be sold within their store too. There are multiple options of breads and baked items for you to choose from! However, they do double bake the garlic bread, his time with cheese and italian seasoning on top. This looked extremely heavy but were in reality very light. The cheese on top and the dip had a nice richness to it and the garlic bread was buttery and crispy!

The Cake Bucks in Pitampura has definitely changed the Vegetarian Game with it's innovative dishes and some brilliant street food. They also have shakes and icecreams which are great as well. The rates are right up a college student's budget and the food is definitely worth it.
