HOUSE OF THE CHOCOLATE GULAB JAMUN - Review- Gray Global Kitchen and Bar
GRAY GLOBAL KITCHEN AND BAR, GREATER KAILASH
Greater Kailash 1 is flooded with high end restaurants and bars. New, concept based restaurants are popping up every now and then, trying to make their mark on the famous market. However, looks aren't the only thing that matter to customers when it comes to dining. It is the overall experience that takes you to the next level. At Gray Global Kitchen and Bar, they've perfected the art of fine dining. The place is a beautiful fusion of eating with your eyes first and then your mouth.
THE AMBIENCE
Gray is located on the second floor and is easy to spot with its sharp, edgy signboard. When we approached the place, we were greated very heartily by Siddharth, who guided us to the second floor with the warmest of smiles. His handshake was very firm too. (Maybe he's been single too long, I'm nobody to judge. He was a good lad)
On entering the restaurant, we were blown away by the sheer class of it. The beautiful grays of the restaurant, aided by accents of white were brilliant. It made the restaurant appear ever so elegant. Plenty of natural light let in by the windows, made for a very fresh and vibrant ambience to eat in. The stewards were very friendly and kept checking on the diners to make sure their meal was just right.
THE FOOD
When you talk about the perfect balance between the visual and the gastronomic, Gray is a perfect 10. The food looked beautiful and tasted even better. The menu was varied and ranged across the globe. (Hence global. MIND = BLOWN)
We ordered the Berry Cookie Shake and the Pomegranate Basil Cooler. Both the drinks were equally refreshing and cool, but I was inclined more towards the Shake. It was recommended by the steward and sent chills down my spine. SO GOOD.
Since we were here to binge on some non-veg, all our courses had some form of meat (except the drinks, you carcass loving freak). First came the Chicken Rasuli Tikka which was cooked with cheese. My goodness, meat and cheese, could things get any better?
Next up, the Pepperoni Pizza with loads of cheese and pepperoni, served with real peppercorns on a thin crust base. The crust was just the right thickness with the cheese adding some real flavour to the dish as well. Very satisfying so far!
Still left craving for more non-vegetarian food, and with everything being so good so far, we ordered the Mezze Platter with a pretty good variety for us to try. Babaganoush, Hummus, Tzatziki, Pita, Chichen Shishtaouk and Lamb Kibbeh. There was an overload of mayonnaise on the Kibbeh and Shishtaouk, but that was easily countered by the freshness of the Tzatziki. Also, the dish looked pretty as a picture with all the colors of summer and more on it.
Finally, we moved on to the main course and ordered the Chicken Steak. This BEAST was stuffed with chicken mince. IMAGINE THAT. Stuffing yourself with your own self. HOW COOL IS THAT? Topped off with a mushroom sauce and served alongside mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables, this dish was made by angels themselves. I could see them blessing the Chicken Steak with holy water before serving it to us. It was so good. My craving was satisfied. I was left dreaming about the steak for the next 3 nights. I had dreams which turned to nightmares when I realised they weren't real.
Finally, the dessert was also suggested to us, which was the Chocolate Gulab Jamun. Now, I thought it was going to be just a Gulab Jamun topped off with some liquid chocolate. BUT WAS I WRONG! It was a massive ball of Gulab Jamun, drenched in chaashni, served along side rabdi. And when you opened that sucker up, liquid chocolate flew out like Modi flies out of India. True Story. It was the perfect dessert, which wasn't overly sweet. The chocolate made the Gulab Jamun taste even better. A perfect end to a perfect meal.
THE VERDICT
Right at the end of the meal, I realised that this was probably the best experience I've had in a restaurant in a while. I was full, I regretted nothing, and I was left wanting more. The place was stunning and the food they served was at par with its looks. Its a place that I would love to visit again with more friends and family!
Let's go back soon!!
