LIT BAR AND RISTORANTE, GK3

Greater Kailash 3, or Masjid Moth, is the lesser known cousin of the other GKs. is the posh one. Not that GK1 or GK2 are any less, but my God, is GK3 beautiful. With restaurants like Mainland China, The Velvet Room and LIT, GK3 is a very well hidden treasure. Talking about modern, sharp and abstract beauty, LIT Bar and Ristorante fits right in! You're welcomed by sharp edges on the exterior and a wall with microherbs and plants that spell out LIT.

As soon as you step through the elegant barricading, you're greeted by subtle hues of blue and shades of grey. 50 of them. (Ooh. Mood set.) Along with great smooth mattes, the LEDs and the furniture adds to the experience as well. There are two floors, and plenty of seating areas. The DJ plays some beautiful tunes to set the mood. There's plenty of natural light for your Insta worthy photos as well!

There's fantastic service as well. The menus are LIT too! LITERALLY. There's buttons on the menu to light up the string of LEDs lining the pages of the menu. After the meal, I had a word with the chef and he was very receptive of the feedback his diners have. The bar is very lively and bartenders are very interactive. Pyaar hi ho jaye.

THE FOOD

Coming to the food itself, there's a large variety on offer. The non-vegetarians, like the superior class we are, would enjoy the variety more as they have a vast choice in proteins. Chicken, lamb, bacon, fish to name a few. They also have a well equipped bar for anyone who'd like to drink. The progression of the meal was wonderful as well. LIT takes care of those who like fine dining as well as clubbing. So Naagin Dance in a 3 piece suit is perfectly fine here.

Since the summers are almost here, mocktails were a necessity. We ordered the Virgin Mojito and the Peach Schnapps. Both drinks were refreshing with the Mojito having a very tart approach and the Schnapps being sweeter.

To kickoff our meal, we got soup. And boy, was it good soup! Asparagus and Mushroom Capuccino, both were very smooth and had flavour packed in them.

For starters, we ordered the Buffalo Chicken Wings, which were more like Chicken Lollipop than wings. The traditional Buffalo Sauce, which is very spicy and smokey, was missing. And the dish tasted like Drums of Heaven more. However, the dish itself was amazing, even though it didn't stand true to its name.

Next came the Smash Avacado Toasts. Avacados, along with vegetables and some lime juice, topped on a bruschetta which was toasted. This canape was perfect party food and set our appetite going. The freshness of the dish was unmatched.

We also got the Smoked Chicken and Jalapenos Pizza, which was a delight. This was the first time I had a Neapolitan Pizza. Both the Sicilian Thin Crust and the Neapolitan crust are from Italy, Sicily and Naples respectively. However, the Neapolitan is somewhat thicker and crispier. The borders are raised to hold the sauces and toppings in and it's crispier than your typical thin crust. If all restaurants replace thin crust with the Neapolitan, I'D BE A HAPPY MAN. This pizza opened new worlds to me. I'm a changed person now.

We were almost full by the food we'd ordered so far, but there was space for mains as well. We were recommended the Grilled Sole Fillets and when the dish arrived, I was in awe of its beauty. The fresh, summer colours of the dish were very inviting. The fish was perfectly grilled and the flavours were fresh.

Finally, to finish our meal off we had the Melting Moment Chocolate Cake. Just the sight of splitting open the cake and seeing the hot chocolate, both white and dark, flow out was magnificent. Served alongside a scoop of vanilla icecream, the dessert was just the perfect end to the meal.

THE VERDICT

LIT Bar and Ristorante is the perfect combination of good food and great ambience, topped off with upbeat music. Given the price we have to pay, however, I will not be a very frequent visitor to the place. But it is on my list for top places for a fine dining dinner/lunch for celebrations!
